Sebastien Tobler is a Filipino-Swiss writer-director whose storytelling reflects his mixed race and cultural background as well as the constant sense of impermanence that stems from growing up in seven different countries. His diverse background is the foundation of his artistic vision from Switzerland to the Philippines, Poland to Indonesia, Thailand to England, and the US.

Sebastien has been named the 2024 Stowe Launch Fellow and over the course of the year, through close mentorship, his feature project BODIES OF WATER will be developed and presented to prospective studios and investors.

His feature film debut as writer and director of THIS TIME has earned him the Emerging Director Award from the Asian CineVision’s 2023 edition of AAIFF. It had its world premiered as the LA Asian Pacific Film Festival centerpiece weekend on May 6, 2023. The worldwide sales rights to This Time has been acquired by EST/N8 Studios.

With each project, Sebastien pours his heart and soul into his creations, infusing each story with a nostalgic quality that captures the essence of the human experience. He is currently packaging a multi-generational family drama set in the American West and a coming of age story about 90’s expat teens in Bangkok, Thailand. 

As he continues to create and explore new horizons, Sebastien remains forever grateful for the experiences that have shaped him into the person and artist he is today.
