Light Currents - Following the Light that Lingers
Light Currents is my way of geeking out about what makes certain films stick with you visually. As someone who's constantly toggling between making movies and falling in love with them, I've become obsessed with how cinematography can hit you right in the feels.
This series is basically me sharing what I notice when I watch films—the visual choices that make me pause, rewind, and think "damn, that was good." I'll break down how directors and cinematographers use light, framing, and movement in ways that tell stories beyond what anyone's saying.
When I watch something like Luis Cuadrado's work in "The Spirit of the Beehive," I can't help but notice how he and director Victor Erice captures the spirit of a physical space and have you immediately feeling the absence of the character who was just there. Those are the kinds of things I get excited about and want to share with you.
No fancy film theory, I promise—just honest observations from someone who's trying to figure out these same techniques in my own work. I'm always looking for those visual moments that linger with you after the movie ends.
Come hang out as we follow these currents of light through films that actually make us feel something.
